Love this idea. Although hardware solutions are a bit of a challenge, and rather expensive, this one provides an excellent solution to a number of problems. I bet banks could get people to pay for it (maybe at a subsidized rate) if it was also a secure 4GB storage stick.

Interesting perspective, and I think a true one, that use of mobile for payments will vary by nation based on how sophisticated the current payments infrastructure is. That being said, it seems the consumer demand side of the equation will ultimately decide how successful mobile based payments will be, and it seems that increasingly consumers rely more and more on mobile devices.

I never really grokked Bill Me Later, but there do seem to be synergies with PayPal, in terms of the value prop of not sharing financial information with every merchant. Will be interesting to see what PayPal/eBay does with it.
